Today (July 5) is P.T. Barnum's birthday. He was born in the humble town of Bethel CT on July 5, 1810. Barnum always used to say that he was a Yankee Doodle Dandy (plus one!)Barnum revolutionized American entertainment by giving people what they didn't know that they wanted-- a sense of excitement and grandeur, at a relatively inexpensive price. Barnum really had his finger on the pulse of the American psyche, and from the 1840's to his death in 1891
